My dad, WWII triple threat man (pilot, bombardier, and gunner) 8th Army Air Force out of Lavenham, England on plane “Ticket Home.” Flew over 35 missions, picked up his Lucky Bastard Certificate after 25th one.
As a girl, I used to giggle when I would hear my dad say to one of his cronies, or other person who queried, “You bet your sweet ass I am!”

My Grandmother Susan became a Turtle in the early years! She was a lover of riddles and all things joyus. Being a Turtle was one of her favorite things to tell people and induct into! She was also one of the lucky few who has her original induction cards in almost perfect shape! It's a treasure for sure.

My mom initiated me in 1975 into the ancient and honorable order of the turtle. She passed in Sept of 1986.
She was a nurse and always enjoyed asking physicians in the most awkward moments “are you a turtle.?”.

Brian Maclean
My step father. He served for 30 years in our Canadian Navy. He passed during covid and services are long done. We, Mom sister and I didnt get to participate due to covid restrictions. Nobody has any real closure. Could I ask that anyone who has lost a service person on duty or not to look to the oceans and consider all our brave men and women still fighting for us to be a part of this illustrious clubin both Canada and the USA, Aswell as thisexwho serve abroad in whichever services there. We are all of us...Turtles floating in larger pond than we think all brothers and sisters separated by land. Lets all stick our heads out and cheer our service people.
Thank you
Brian Maclean,
My pond is the Praxeum

In Memory ofReba Brewer
Louisa Irick
Reba Brewer (maiden name Houston, first marriage last name Owen) is my maternal grandmother. She passed away in 2013 before she could initiate me into the Turtles but did pass down the turtle souvenirs she gathered from her trips around the world. She told me of a funny story where she was running to catch a flight and someone hollered "Are you a Turtle?" and she yelled out the password without missing a beat.
I found your site/community and thought what better way to honor her on what would have been her 100th birthday (11/22) than to join myself. Thank you!

My grandpa. The funniest person I’ve ever met and miss dearly. Found his Turtle membership card from 1990 in his wallet and had to sign up
In Memory ofClifton Shultz
Amanda Shepherd
Clif was my grandfather, and a wonderful, courageous, intelligent, wholesome man. He was a great steward to his community and a shining light to his family. There are not enough positive words to describe my grandfather, he will be missed by all who knew him. The date on his Ancient Order of Turtles card has been smudged, however, his Grand Turtle was his equally wonderful step father, Robert D. Shultz.
Thank you for taking the time to remember a wonderful man and a proud owner of a donkey that eats nothing but candy.
In Memory ofDarlene Johnson

My Mom. I made her a turtle in 1981 after I became one. From there she made MANY of her friends turtles and gave them their membership cards. I know her friends broaden our membership as well. My Mom was fun-loving and this brought light, love, and love to others. Thanks, Mom.
